WHY ATBS INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR BENCHMARKING?
Benchmarking is based on actual owner-operator data
- ATBS works with over 40,000 owner-operators and has the largest benchmarking database in the industry.
- Data is gathered in real-time, from owner-operators in every area of their business.
- Information is accumulated and broken out by operation and by carrier.
- You can see comparisons that are meaningful to your business based on actual numbers.
- General industry numbers will not give you a meaningful comparison.
- To be effective, you need to be benchmarked against your direct competition within your market segment.
- ATBS breaks out their benchmarking information by Dry Van, Flat, Reefer, Specialized and Independents and by the specific carriers within those market segments.
ATBS METHODOLOGY:
- Sample size – Data is based on thousands of owner-operators in each market segment and at least 50 carriers in the benchmark group.
- Time Period – Every quarter, ATBS looks at the most recent 24 months including an average of each 12-month period for comparison.
- Anonymous - Carriers in the benchmarking group are assigned a number. You’ll see your information and how you rank against the other carriers in your group, but no one else will know which numbers are yours.
- Market Segments – ATBS benchmarks Dry Van, Flat, Reefer, Specialized and Independent Market Segments and then provides an average for All Market Segments combined.
- Consistency - The data is purified based on consistent monthly measurements and the scale remains consistent across each group of charts.
- Key Performance Areas - You will see how your owner-operators rank in terms of Overall Mileage, Total Revenue, Revenue Per Mile, Truck Cost, License and Permit Costs, OccAcc Insurance Costs, Health Insurance Costs, Fuel Costs, Maintenance Costs, Communications Costs, Net Income and Cash Advances.
- “All” Market Segments - ATBS also provides an analysis of All Market Segments combined in each of the key performance areas. This is a weighted average of the segments taking into account the percent of drivers in each market segment.
